Lin Boqu Family Style: With the People
Lin Boqu is one of the highly respected leaders of our party and country. Deng Xiaoping evaluated him as a "thorough revolutionary". He has deep feelings for the people. During his long revolutionary career, he always maintained the fine style of keeping close contact with the masses. Lin Boqu once wrote the ten characters "Serve the people and work for the world" in his diary, and solemnly stamped his name as a motto to alert him at all times. Lin Boqu wrote and did so to educate his family. In life, he is strict with himself and his family style is strict, which can be regarded as a model for the whole party.
Don't let your children lie on their parents' books.
In daily life, Lin Boqu has always made a clear distinction between public and private. He also pays special attention to this point in the education of his children and firmly opposes special care. He said to the staff around him: "The children of high-level cadres do not lie on their parents' credit books and do not engage in specialization. This is a major issue related to the image of the party and the healthy growth of future generations."
During the Anti-Japanese War, Lin Boqu's children and many relatives studied or worked in Yan'an, and he never used his power to take care of them. On the contrary, Lin Boqu paid great attention to cultivating their hard and simple life style, put an end to the signs of specialization, and asked them to establish "revolutionary views, labor views, and mass views".
During the war, the supply of materials was very tight, and the children in Lin Boqu, like others, always felt underfed and sometimes even cried with hunger. Seeing this situation, someone suggested to Lin Boqu that the food in the small stove is relatively better. The children are young and are growing up in urgent need of nutrition, so that the children can eat the small stove. Lin Boqu immediately refused sternly: "This is against the system. Special care cannot be given just because they are my children. Other students and soldiers can eat large stoves and they can eat them." He also specifically instructed the secretary and guards, resolutely do not allow the children to enjoy privileges.
In the autumn of 1946, the organization decided to let Lin Boqu's daughter Lin Li go to work in the northeast. Lin Boqu immediately agreed and specifically exhorted: "After going to the northeast, you must not ask the organization to let you and me report." The daughter was very puzzled when she heard that the war was raging and her relatives were on different battlefields, so she was worried about each other, and the telegraph was the only means of communication, so why did her father ban it? It turned out that at that time, it was a critical period of the war, and Lin Boqu knew that radio resources were a tool to serve the war of liberation, and that it was a violation of the principle of specialization. In this way, the father and daughter have been without news since they separated, and it has been many years since they met again.
Cultivate children's feelings for the people
During his tenure as the chairman of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government, Lin Boqu traveled across mountains and rivers to various counties for investigation and research. Every time he came back from Xi'an or Chongqing, he had to lean on a stick and walk one by one in the cave dwellings near his residence to talk to the people. Lala, learn about their work and life. After the founding of New China, regardless of his physical weakness, he still tried his best to follow the public, traveled all over the south and north of the Yangtze River and inside and outside the Great Wall, investigated and understood the actual situation, observed the sufferings of the people, and put forward suggestions for improving his work.
Not only himself, Lin Boqu also pays special attention to starting from small things, patiently teaching and inspiring children, and cultivating their feelings for the people. In February 1938, in the Xi 'an office of the Eighth Route Army, Lin Boqu met his daughter Lin Li, who had been away for many years. After years of parting with father and daughter, they had a lot to talk about. However, after asking about the recent situation in their hometown, Lin Boqu asked, "Do you know how much rice is a kilo? How much salt is a kilo? How much cloth is a foot?" Hearing this question, his daughter was speechless for a moment. She thought her father would tell her some revolutionary principles, but she didn't expect her father to ask about household chores such as "firewood, rice, oil and salt. Seeing his daughter's doubts, Lin Boqu said earnestly: "These are all things that have a bearing on the lives of the broad masses of the people. If you care about the people, you have to care about these things." Lin Li suddenly realized and understood the deep meaning of his father's problem. Many years later, Linley recalled this meeting still fresh in her memory. She later said: "What my father said to me was actually my first political lesson."
Lin Boqu also asked his children to really go deep into the masses and become one with the masses. In 1942, when Lin Boqu's young son Lin Yongsan was less than 3 years old, Lin Boqu sent him to the countryside in order to let him understand how farmers live and work, and to cultivate his feelings for farmers from an early age. In 1956, after Lin Yousan graduated from junior high school, Lin Boqu asked him to be admitted to other middle schools from the cadre children's school, live a day-to-day life, have more contact with the children of ordinary citizens, and have a more comprehensive understanding of the real situation of the people.
At that time, Lin yingsan arrived at the new school. his classmates were no longer the children of his father's colleagues and had no playmates in his own compound. he had no friends for a while and felt very lonely, but he was not willing to take the initiative to contact other students. After a period of time, at a League organization life meeting, someone gave Lin Yousan an opinion, saying that he was "at a respectful distance" from his classmates ". Lin Youssan felt a little aggrieved by this opinion, so he told his father about it and complained to him. Unexpectedly, Lin Boqu not only did not support him, but said: "This opinion is well put forward, which shows that you have not become one with your classmates." Lin Youssan was unconvinced and argued, "They are not close to me. Why should I be close to them?" hearing his son say this, Lin Boqu was a little angry and said in a reproachful tone: "I think you still only love to make friends with the children of cadres, and you don't like to make friends with the people. Of course they don't like you. This is to separate from the masses. You should take the initiative to make friends with them and learn from their good places." Lin yingsan realized his mistake, checked with his father, began to take the initiative to associate with his classmates, visited their homes, and learned about their living conditions. Later, this became a habit of his. No matter where or what position he was, he would always take the initiative to approach the masses and become friends with them.
Ask your children to be on the ground.
Like all fathers, Lin Boqu loved his children very much, but this kind of love was not pampering, but stricter requirements for them. He told the children, "The road to revolution must be taken step by step, relying on fathers and brothers, and coveting comfort, there is no revolution".
In the early 1930 s, Lin Boqu went to Moscow to work because of the needs of the revolution. At that time, the children in the family were still young, but he still did not forget to sharpen them. He wrote to ask his children to participate in social practice as soon as possible and not to be flowers in the greenhouse. He asked his eldest son and second daughter to work to help his mother support the family; even the youngest child had to learn to do handicrafts and master a skill.
At the beginning of 1947, Hu Zongnan attacked Yan'an. Lin yongsan was studying in primary school at the cadre's children's school. His classmates all said, "it's really going to be transferred. Dad will pick me up." Although he knew that his father decided to stay with the people and let his family move with the large army. But he still longed to see his father at this time, even if it was just a few minutes. He once stood alone on the hillside, looking at the road leading to Yan'an with tearful eyes... Finally, he waited for the news from his father, who did not come to pick him up. Instead, he asked the guards to send some Border District coins and told him to listen to his teachers and big brothers and sisters, hoping that he would be a marching model in the transfer. Lin, 7, kept his father's instructions in mind and walked more than 2000 kilometers on his feet. During the march, he also joined the children's regiment and was rated as a marching model. The next year, when father and son met again, Lin Boqu said happily, "you have grown up and become more sensible!"
After the founding of New China, Lin Boqu served as secretary-general of the Central people's Government, and his living conditions were better than before, but he did not relax the education of his children at all. He was worried that in the atmosphere of national victory, the children would ignore the hard work and plain living style and stop fighting. According to the children's memories, despite his busy work, Lin Boqu still insisted on taking time to call his children for family meetings. At every family meeting, he would teach them Marxist-Leninist theory, often for three or four hours. It is hoped that they can use this to arm their minds, guide their work and resist temptation. After the lecture, Lin Boqu will also talk with each child, ask them in detail about their work and life, and remind them of the problems that should be paid attention to according to their characteristics. He also often teaches his children to be cautious in making friends, to have healthy and progressive contacts among friends, and not to get carried away in the atmosphere of flattery and praise, and to lose revolutionary initiative.
Lin Boqu's strictness to his children is also reflected in his strict requirements for their work and study. Because he was worried that the children had the idea of "being red", Lin Boqu was always afraid that they would slack off in their work. During Lin Li's work in the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, Lin Boqu once asked the leaders of the unit: "Please discipline her and be strict with her." In 1959, Lin yingsan was preparing to go to college. Lin boqu was very concerned about his professional choice. When he learned that Lin was preparing to study aviation, Lin Boqu said earnestly, "It took so many years for the Chinese revolution to win, and it is by no means easy to build such a country. I only hope you can learn some real skills and do some work down-to-earth to contribute to the construction of the country."
In the strict education of Lin Boqu, his children have embarked on the road of revolution. Qi Zilin yongsan graduated from Harbin Institute of military Engineering and served as deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee and vice chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous region Government. His daughter Lin Li studied in the Soviet Union and later served as a professor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. No matter when and what job they do, their children always remember their father's advice: "you have to fight for everything you do."
