1. Master's Program in Intelligent Equipment Design and Manufacturing
Relying on the advantageous disciplinary resources of Tsinghua University and its own strengths in industry-academia-research integration and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, our institute has gathered the forces of well-known domestic and international enterprises to actively explore innovative approaches in talent cultivation. This program focuses on the design and manufacturing of intelligent equipment, aiming to cultivate high-level applied professional talents with good professional ethics and qualities, a solid grasp of basic theories and professional knowledge, a global perspective, innovative thinking, and the ability to communicate and collaborate across disciplines/professions. Graduates will be capable of solving practical projects and independently undertaking professional engineering technical or management tasks.
The project adopts a "1+2" model, where students study on campus for the first year and engage in external practice for the second and third years. It employs a dual-tutor strategy for project execution. Our institute builds a scientific research practice platform for students, establishes management support systems, and arranges basic conditions for living and learning.
Approximately 30 students are admitted to pursue a master's degree each year. Among the enrolled students, several have already received academic or comprehensive awards, including 1 Tsinghua University Graduate Special Scholarship, 2 First-Class Scholarships, 4 Second-Class Scholarships, 8 Tsinghua Friendship Scholarships, 1 Tsinghua University Graduate Social Work Excellence Scholarship, 2 Outstanding Communist Party Members among Tsinghua University Graduates, 2 Outstanding League Members of Tsinghua University, 2 Outstanding Student Cadres of Tsinghua University, 1 Outstanding Secretary of the Party Branch for Graduate Students at Tsinghua University, 1 Top Ten Volunteer of Tsinghua University, 1 Outstanding Graduate of Beijing Municipality, 1 Outstanding Thesis Award of Tsinghua University, and 1 Outstanding Graduate of Tsinghua University.
2. "Advanced Equipment Practice" Course
To enhance the effectiveness of professional practice for graduate students and to innovate the organization of professional practice, since 2017, The Graduate School of Tsinghua University has incorporated the compulsory practice of graduate majors into its teaching system, offering professional practice base courses, and exploring the course-based approach to professional practice. These courses are open to all graduate students at the university for selection. Through the provision of real projects by the base, the formation of practice teams by students across different majors, and joint guidance by university and enterprise mentors, students are able to complete challenging practical tasks and earn corresponding credits for the professional practice segment. Our institute, as a professional practice base of Tsinghua University, focuses on building a "handshake area" between enterprises and universities, with a key focus on constructing a teaching model of "1 platform, 2 databases, 1 base."
Since 2017, the institute has co-hosted the "Advanced Equipment Practice" course with CRRC Sifang in Qingdao, attracting over 120 students from more than 10 departments of Tsinghua University to participate in over 80 project practice activities. In the course, both the institute and CRRC Sifang have integrated their own characteristic segments and courses, such as the "Innovation Thinking Training Camp" at the Tianjin base, the "Youth Growth and Talent Development Themed Course" and "Master Craftsman Exchange Seminar" at CRRC Sifang. The most notable was the interdisciplinary innovation thinking course co-hosted by the institute and the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University in 2022. The interdisciplinary innovation thinking course is an innovative teaching model and a beneficial practice exploration based on the summary of course experience and the actual needs of students for the course. It has expanded the organization form of the practice base courses, enriched the content of the practice base courses, and effectively promoted the collaborative development of different disciplines.
