Mu Qing: Sprinkle the Last Drop for the Revolutionary Cause
He was an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China and one of the early party leaders in Sichuan.
He proposed that the focus of his work should be on small cities where the enemy's rule is weak, especially in remote counties. In prison, he often wrote letters to relatives and friends outside in Chinese, French and Russian, expressing his loyalty to the revolutionary cause and his deep love for the people.
■ On May 14, 1930, he died heroically in Chongqing at the age of 32.
On May 14, 1930, there was a burst of gunfire in the courtyard in front of the Yamen of Ba County in Chongqing, and Mu Qing, acting secretary of the Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee and minister of organization, fell in a pool of blood. This is also only a few days after Liu Yuan'an, an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Sichuan provincial Party committee, and others died, another major leader of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China was killed by warlords.
He proposed that the focus of work should be on small cities where the enemy's rule is weak, especially in remote counties.
in 1898, mu qing was born into a poor peasant family in the fubaoshan district of hejiang county on the upper reaches of the yangtze river.
After the Xinhai Revolution, Mu Qing was admitted to Hejiang County Middle School. At this time, Yuan Shikai and Japan signed the "Twenty-one Articles" aimed at the destruction of China. The Chinese and young students strongly opposed it. Mu Qing and his classmates joined in the propaganda of boycotting Japanese goods and awakening the public.
Since then, he has been influenced by democratic and scientific thinking by reading progressive publications such as "New Youth". He deeply feels that China is in the midst of internal and external troubles and disasters, and is determined to find a way to transform society and save the country and the people.
"In 1920, Mu Qing was admitted to the preparatory school of the work study branch in France established by Wu Yuzhang and others in Chengdu, and at the end of that year, he went to work study in France from Shanghai." Li Yu, deputy director of the Southern Bureau of the Party History Research Office of the Chongqing Municipal CPC Committee, said that in 1922, Mu Qing joined the European branch of the Communist Party of China established by Zhao Shiyan, Zhou Enlai and others in Paris, France, and became a communist fighter.
In early 1926, when Mu Qing returned to China, the central government assigned him to the Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China as the organization minister and the director of the South China Office of the International Relief Society. Mu Qing and everyone are united and responsible for the division of labor, making the work colorful.
In 1928, as a special commissioner of the central government, Mu Qing returned to his long-separated hometown of Sichuan. Based on his work experience in Guangdong, Mu Qing learned from the experience of Mao Zedong, Peng Pai and others in establishing rural base areas in Jinggangshan and Hailufeng, and proposed that the focus of work should be on small cities where the enemy is weakly ruled, especially remote counties.
He chose Gaoxian, Junlian, Yongning, Gulin, etc. as the places to mobilize peasants to carry out revolutionary activities, while in Luxian, Xufu (Yibin), and Ziliujing, he mobilized workers to fight; the focus of his work was to publicize the masses, organize The masses, arm the masses, establish trade unions and peasant associations, organize peasant self-defense forces and workers' pickets in places where conditions permit, and establish revolutionary regimes.
After Mu Qing's mobilization and guidance, the party organization quickly organized thousands of salt well workers in Dafenbao, Sanduozhai and other places in Ziliujing, and set up armed pickets of workers; in Xuyong, Gulin and other places, peasant armed organizations were also established successively.
In prison, he flatly denied that he was a member of the Communist Party. From the documents and records, the enemy proved Mu Qing's true identity. "Although Mu Qing was a special commissioner sent by the Party Central Committee to inspect and assist in Sichuan, he took the lead in everything. Not afraid of hardship, close contact with the masses." Li Yu introduced that Mu Qing often went deep into the countryside, disguised as a coolie or a peddler, and went to the mountain area to guide local work. Once, on a frosty morning, Mu Qing was on his way to Luxian County with several cadres from Jiang 'an when he was found by Cheng Zifang, a local regiment valve, and he followed closely. Mu Qing was very calm at that time. He directed everyone to climb up a wooded mountain top, condescending and firing guns at several places, so that the enemy did not know the truth and thought that they had been ambushed, did not dare to chase after them, and let the comrades out of danger.
The restoration and growth of party organizations in various parts of Sichuan and the vigorous development of armed uprisings shocked the enemy, and set up secret service committees, establishment of investigative teams, introspection institutes and other reactionary institutions to deal with underground parties.
In early October 1928, Liu Xiang destroyed the organs of the provincial party committee of our party in Chongqing and arrested Zhang Xiushu, acting secretary of the provincial party committee. After hearing the news, Mu Qing immediately went to Shuangjiang Town, Tongnan to convene a meeting of responsible persons from Chongqing, southern Sichuan, and western Sichuan, and decided to move the provincial party committee westward to Chengdu to establish a temporary Sichuan provincial party committee in order to lead the work of the Sichuan party to continue to move forward. Temporary provincial party committee division of labor, Mu Qing as secretary.
In March 1930, Mu Qing, alias Lu Weixin, was arrested by a detective team led by traitor Zou Rongfang on Jiongshuigou Street in Chongqing after completing the task assigned by the party.
In prison, he was calm and firm, denying that he was a member of the Communist Party, nor was he called Lu Weixin, nor did he admit that he had been secretary of the provincial party committee and minister of organization. At the same time, he prevaricated with a statement that had already been made up, and always insisted that his name was "Yuan Yucang".
"Unexpectedly, in early May of the same year, the provisional provincial party committee organs were sabotaged by warlords because of betrayal by traitors, provincial party committee secretary Liu Yuan'an and others were arrested, and the enemy seized a batch of documents and meeting minutes. From these documents and records, the enemy proved Mu Qing's true identity." Li Yu said.
In prison, Mu Qing was full of optimism. He often wrote letters to relatives and friends outside in Chinese, French and Russian, expressing his loyalty to the revolutionary cause and his deep love for the people.
Because of the "Haochi Street Incident", Mu Qing's self-rescue and the rescue of the party organization were all in vain.
"Originally, Mu Qing was expected to escape, but because of the' Haochi Street Incident ', Mu Qing's self-rescue and the rescue of the Party organization all came to an end." Li Yu said.
On May 5, 1930, when Liu Yuan'an, then Secretary of the provincial Party committee, held a meeting of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party committee on the floor of Yufaxiang sauce garden shop at 39 Haochi Street in Chongqing, he was betrayed by traitors. Many provincial Party committee leaders including Liu Yuan'an were arrested. On May 8, Liu Yuanan and others died heroically in front of the Ba County Yamen, known in history as the "Haochi Street Incident".
When studying the documents found in the "Haochi Street Incident", the Secret Service Committee of the 21st Army found such records: "Since the arrest of Zhong Ming (the pseudonym of Li Mingke, Secretary of the Military Commission of the Province) was difficult, and the Standing Committee was extremely unsound..." "Since March 20, the comrade who was arrested in prison was a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee..." The secret service members judged from this: "Yuan Yucang" Yuan, before he captured no other people, and after him, there was no second person named "Wei Xin" in prison. Therefore, Yuan Yucang must be Lu Weixin.
After confirming his true identity, the reactionaries killed Mu Qing on May 14, 1930.
Li Yu said that after the sacrifice of Liu Yuan'an, Mu Qing and others, the newly-built Sichuan Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China reported to the Central Committee that the biggest loss this time was "the sacrifice of all the Standing Committee members".
Li Yu explained that Zhang Xiushu, acting secretary of the Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee, who was arrested before Liu Yuan'an and Mu Qing, was sentenced to prison under the pressure of public opinion and was not released until the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan because he was a celebrity in the cultural and educational circles of Sichuan at that time. Zhang Xiushu is also the only survivor of the secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (including the temporary provincial party committee) who was arrested in Chongqing during the Agrarian Revolutionary War.
