Li Kinong is running a newspaper while engaging in a united front.
The National Salvation Daily was sponsored by the National Salvation Association of Cultural circles in the Kuomintang-controlled area during the Anti-Japanese War and was founded in Shanghai on August 24, 1937. After the fall of Shanghai, he moved to Guilin on January 10, 1939. President Guo Moruo and editor-in-chief Xia Yan mainly publicized the principles and policies of the Communist Party of China to resist Japan and save the country, and reported on the international anti-fascist struggle and the Chinese Anti-Japanese War. During the Anti-Japanese War, Li Kinong, as the director of the Guilin Office of the eighth Route Army, participated in and led the distribution of the Salvation Daily in Guilin.
In view of the fact that Guilin was controlled by the Kuomintang's Guangxi system at that time, in order to strive for the smooth publication of "Salvation Daily" in Guilin, Li Rengren, Bai Chongxi's teacher and chairman of the Guangxi Provisional Senate, visited Huang Xuchu, governor of Guangxi, and then invited Li Rengren to accompany him to visit Huang Xuchu, governor of Guangxi, to show that the Communist Party of China supports the Guangxi authorities' stand of uniting against Japan, which was approved by Huang. After that, Li Kinong accompanied Zhou Enlai and Guo Moruo, the president of the "Salvation Daily", to call on Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi to carry out united front work, and expressed the hope that they would support the "Salvation Daily. Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi not only welcomed them, but also subsidized a sum of money.
In order to raise funds, Li Kinong allocated HK $1500 from the funds donated by overseas patriotic overseas Chinese through Liao Chengzhi, director of the Eighth Route Army's Hong Kong office. Li Kinong also allocated 20 to 30 white newspapers from the warehouse of the Eighth Route Army's office in Guilin, together with a sum of money and dozens of white newspapers brought by Guo Moruo, to ensure the timely resumption and distribution of the Salvation Daily in Guilin. Li also transferred experienced Weng from six, Zhang Erhua to the "Salvation Daily" as a manager. With their efforts, the number of newspapers has grown from more than 1,000 to 5000.
After the "Southern Anhui Incident" occurred in January 1941, Li Kenong instructed the "Salvation Daily" to expose the criminal acts of the Kuomintang die-hards, and at the same time instructed the staff of the newspaper to be prepared at any time. After learning that the Kuomintang die-hards were preparing to seal up the "Salvation Daily", Li Kenong took the risk and came to the "Salvation Daily" agency in costume, asking Xia Yan and others to leave Guilin as soon as possible and establish a foreign propaganda base in Hong Kong.
After perceiving the attempt of the Kuomintang die-hards, Li Jishen sent someone to send a note saying "Purge Guilin, Ken Nong go quickly. But Li KeNong calmly deal with, before the evacuation, in the "Guangxi Daily" and "Salvation Daily" respectively published the 18th Group Army Office to cancel the revelation: "This office was ordered to cancel, the end of the day, all parties to and from the accounts of all hope to January 20 before the settlement clear. Due to the effective united front policy, the Guangxi troops implemented the policy of "sending people out of the country with gifts. On January 21, 1941, Li Kinong led the staff to evacuate Guilin and arrived safely at the Eighth Route Army Office in Chongqing after several twists and turns.
