Before and after the Construction of Public Bathrooms -- A Survey of Zhou Enlai
On January 5, 1959, after participating in foreign affairs activities, Premier Zhou Enlai went from Shanghai to Guangdong Conghua Sanatorium to visit his wife Deng Yingchao who was recuperating here due to illness. In the few days of Conghua, Zhou Enlai was not idle at all. He enthusiastically went to the countryside, schools and other grassroots to conduct investigations and investigations to understand the social conditions and people's livelihood.

One day, when Zhou Enlai and his entourage were walking by the hot spring, they saw that the staff were struggling to pedal a tricycle carrying a stack of felt. They hurriedly walked over to help. Later, they simply rode on the tricycle to help deliver the felt.
As soon as the car got up, Zhou Enlai was very happy, but Deng Yingchao and the health care doctor beside him held a sweat for him, followed cautiously, and carried the car with their hands from time to time. In this process, the staff present took a few photos with their cameras and kept them as information. This tricycle has also been preserved to this day and is in relatively good condition. Its body is dark green and its style is very special. The loading position is in the front and the back is the pedal seat of the tricycle.
Take the lead in donating money to help people build bathrooms.
After Zhou Enlai arrived at Conghua Hot Spring, after work, he still did not forget to work or have a heart-to-heart talk with the staff of the hot spring hall, which is still fresh in the memory of many old staff in the hotel. An old employee recalled Zhou Enlai's vacation in hot springs and said with emotion: The Prime Minister came not so much to take a vacation as to care about the masses. He did not have a good rest during the short ten-day vacation. Visited Conghua's rural areas, shops, schools, kindergartens and many community cadres, and kept the people's warmth and warmth in mind wherever they went.
Indeed, Zhou Enlai's care for the masses was meticulous and ubiquitous. For example, on the afternoon of January 11, 1959, Zhou Enlai braved the cold wind to walk across Bilang Bridge to Wenquan Village. First, he inspected the primary schools and kindergartens in the village, and also walked to the health care station and other units. Zhou Enlai stayed in the village for more than three hours, either asking questions or discussing with the brigade cadres to improve rural conditions. He has three times urged village cadres to care about the health of villagers, do more good things for the masses, and do practical things. When Zhou Enlai learned that it was difficult for hot spring villagers and kindergarten children to take hot spring baths while guarding hot springs, and many members often went to Liuxi River to take baths, he told the people around him on the spot that they must find ways to build a public bath room for hot spring village. He also immediately took the lead and suggested that all comrades who went to hot spring for recuperation and comrades in hot spring institutions should donate some money to help build bathhouses. Soon after, with the attention of the relevant departments of Guangdong Province, a public bathroom with an area of more than 150 square meters was built in Wenquan Village. The hot spring villagers bid farewell to the dilemma of not being able to take a hot spring bath while guarding the hot spring.
As early as March 18, 1943, Zhou Enlai formulated the "Principles of My Cultivation", the sixth of which reads as follows: "Never be isolated from the masses, learn from the masses, and help them." Zhou Enlai personally pedaled the tricycle to help the waiters deliver felt and help the masses build bathrooms, which happened to be a vivid manifestation of this principle.
