Tan Zheng: "The progress of cadres' thinking is the hub of all work progress"
In the spring of 1942, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Central Military Commission launched a significant rectification movement within the whole party and the whole army, which was historically called the Yan'an Rectification Movement. Tan Zheng was then deputy director of the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission, deputy political commissar and director of the Political Department of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia-Jinsui Joint Defense Army and the left-behind Corps.
Tan Zheng is not only good at doing specific leadership work, but also pays more attention to theoretical study and research work. In April 1944, he made a rich and philosophical report on the political work of the army at the meeting of senior cadres of the Northwest Bureau. When discussing that political work is the lifeline of our army, the report pointed out: "political work should have its appropriate status in any part of the revolutionary army, and its role should be properly emphasized, otherwise the work of this army will be lost." When discussing the role of leading cadres in ideological and political education, he pointed out: "The progress of cadres' thinking is the hub of all work progress. Only after the cadres' thinking has made progress, the progress of work is the real and reliable progress." In discussing the solution of ideological problems and the problems of working methods and methods, it was pointed out that "both criticism and self-criticism are useful weapons and cannot be neglected. However, criticism is to inspire self-criticism and, in a sense, to achieve the purpose of self-criticism by means of criticism".
During the more than one year from 1942 to the spring of 1944, the troops in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region launched an unprecedented rectification movement centered on opposing warlordism and dogmatism, and achieved great results.
As Tan Zheng pointed out in his report: "The year 1943 was a year of great progress for the Border Forces. In one year, we solved a major problem of principle within the Border Forces-the problem of warlordist and dogmatic bias-and established a unified leadership system based on the Northwest Bureau, and carried forward the leadership style of contacting the masses and seeking truth from facts." "Because of this progress, we have achieved the truly great results of last year, the results of supporting the government and loving the people, the results of production and sports, the results of preventing spies and the results of winter training."
