Manzhouli: a little-known "red traffic line"

In 1903, after the completion of the Middle East Railway, Manzhouli became the first station to enter China.

Today, in the Red Exhibition Hall in Manzhouli City, there is a broom, a dustpan, and a dirt house. The former site of the secret traffic station called "Jinfengtai" grocery store exudes a heavy historical atmosphere, as if whispering a secret and magnificent red years.

After the founding of the Communist Party of China, in order to strengthen the ties with the Comintern and the Soviet Union, a number of communication lines to the Soviet Union and the Comintern were opened. Among them, the communication line to the Soviet Union and the Comintern via Harbin and Manzhouli was formed earlier, lasted longer, and played a greater role. This transportation line is known as "a red international bridge". Many early leaders of the Communist Party of China attended the Communist International Conference or were sent to the Soviet Union to study and work. Most of them left the country from Manzhouli. "The 'red road' from Harbin to Manzhouli has made special and important contributions to the Chinese revolution and the world revolution, and has played an important role in the development of the Communist Party of China. During that period, tens of thousands of Chinese workers in Russia returned home via Manzhouli, brought back many revolutionary books and periodicals, and introduced the Russian October Revolution to the Chinese people, which accelerated the spread of Marxism in China and the establishment of the Communist Party of China. And the pace of development and growth." Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Manzhouli City History and Culture Research Association Wang Tieqiao said.

From June 18 to July 11, 1928, the Sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in the suburbs of Moscow. This is the only meeting of historical significance held abroad in the history of the Communist Party of China, and it is also a key meeting held at a critical moment of the Chinese revolution. According to statistics, there are 92 comrades from Manzhouli, including Zhou Enlai, Deng Yingchao, Cai Hesen, Li Lisan, Qu Qiubai and others. After the end of the Sixth National Congress, many representatives returned to China through the Manzhouli Red International Secret Communication Line, and Manzhouli once again took on the important task of escorting.

The articles and clothes used by revolutionary workers, the tools used to connect with the code... Today, when we touch these historical footprints again, it is like unconsciously opening a long historical scroll and listening to them tell the tearful but morale-boosting red stories.

The Manzhouli Red International Secret Traffic Station existed for 18 years until it was destroyed in 1937. Eighteen years of wind and rain have witnessed the gradual maturity of the young CCP and effectively guaranteed the safety of every CCP cadre and Comintern personnel passing through the border.

100 years ago, Manzhouli became a "red traffic line" with its special geographical advantages ". 100 years later, Manzhouli integrated the customs of China, Russia and Mongolia, known as the "window of East Asia", and became China's largest land transport port city and a national key development and opening experimental area determined by the State Council.

In 2005, Manzhouli Red International Secret Traffic Line Education Base was listed as one of the 100 classic red tourism scenic spots in China. In 2006, the expansion of the base was completed, including the relics of revolutionary historical sites such as the Memorial Square of the Red International Secret Traffic Line in Manzhouli. It is the only red tourist attraction with the theme of the Communist International in the country, with an annual reception of more than 5 million tourists. Now, the Red Tourism Exhibition Hall, which is the main content of the Sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, copies the silver villas located in the suburbs of Moscow at a ratio of 1:1 to the Manzhouli National Gate Scenic Area. The new red exhibition hall and the six exhibition halls of the Communist Party of China attract local citizens and foreign tourists to visit.

Walking through today's Manchuria, you can see the streets wrapped in silver and the citizens busy purchasing new year's goods. Everyone will remember that the peace and happiness in this land today were bought by countless people with their blood and lives a hundred years ago. In the face of red history, we not only cherish it, but also strive to move forward.
