Beidou application is more intelligent and more integrated

A few days ago, the Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system was officially opened, marking the successful completion of the Beidou "three-step" development strategy, and Beidou has entered a new era of global services. At the press conference of the State Council Information Office held on August 3, relevant experts introduced the completion and opening of the Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system.

Localization of 100 parts of core device

Beidou III started construction in November 2009. The construction of the project has gone through five stages: tackling key technical problems, testing satellite projects, the simplest system, the basic system, and the complete system. The global constellation deployment was completed half a year in advance and the system-wide service was opened. When it is completed, it will be opened, and when it is opened, it will be served.

Ran Chengqi, director of the China Satellite Navigation System Management Office and spokesperson for the Beidou satellite navigation system, introduced many highlights of the project--

To overcome the key core technology, to achieve independent control. It is understood that more than 400 units and more than 300,000 scientific and technological personnel have gathered their wisdom to tackle key problems, conquered more than 160 key core technologies such as inter-satellite links and high-precision atomic clocks, broke through the domestic development of more than 500 kinds of components, and realized the localization rate of Beidou-3 satellite core components by 100.

Give full play to the advantages of the national system and complete the network efficiently. The development cycle of a single satellite is shortened by 1/4, the assembly cycle of the launch vehicle is shortened by 1/3, and the satellite network access cycle is shortened by 3/4.

The system is powerful. Beidou 3 has two major functions of navigation and positioning and communication data transmission. It can provide 7 types of services including positioning and navigation timing, global short message communication, regional short message communication, international search and rescue, star-based enhancement, ground-based enhancement and precise point positioning. It is a powerful global satellite navigation system. The interface control document issued by the Beidou system covers all 7 types of services.

Advanced performance indicators. Global positioning accuracy is better than 10 meters, speed measurement accuracy is better than 0.2 meters per second, timing accuracy is better than 20 nanoseconds, service availability is better than 99%, and the performance in the Asia-Pacific region is better.

Most smartphones support the Beidou function

The two characteristic services of Beidou system are short message service and high precision application. At present, Beidou 3's short message service has been upgraded to 14000 bits (1000 Chinese characters) at a time, which can transmit images and voice. It has also expanded and realized global short messages with the help of global inter-satellite links. At the same time, relying on Beidou system, a high-precision enhancement network has been built on the ground. There are nearly 3000 ground stations in China. The highest precision can be processed to centimeter level in real time and millimeter level in post-processing.

Ran Chengqi introduced that the Beidou system has fully served industries such as transportation, public safety, disaster relief and disaster reduction, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, and urban governance, and integrated into the construction of national core infrastructure such as power, finance, and communications.

"The 28-nanometer process chip has been mass-produced, and the 22-nanometer process chip is about to be mass-produced. Most smartphones support the Beidou function, and mobile phones that support the Beidou foundation-enhanced high-precision application have been listed." Ran Chengqi said that a complete industrial chain integrating chips, modules, boards, terminals and operation services has been built. In the past 10 years, the overall output value of my country's satellite navigation and location service industry has increased by more than 20% annually, reaching 345 billion yuan in 2019 and expected to exceed 400 billion yuan in 2020. Beidou is accelerating its entry into new infrastructure, deeply integrated with new technologies such as new generation communications, blockchain, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.

Internationally, Beidou is one of the four global satellite navigation systems recognized by the United Nations, and its compatibility and interoperability with the satellite navigation systems of the United States, Russia and the European Union, as well as the continuous deepening of inter-system cooperation; it has also entered civil aviation, maritime, search and rescue satellites, mobile communications and other international organizations, and a number of international standards supporting the Beidou system have been issued. At present, Beidou related products have been exported to more than 120 countries and regions, providing services to more than 100 million users.

Beidou application is more intelligent and more integrated

Ran Chengqi said that after the completion of Beidou 3, we have already started the construction and development of the next generation of Beidou.

Application is the starting point and foothold of Beidou system construction. Chip-"China core" is the core of the system. Now all links of the Beidou industry chain are opened, chips, boards, antennas, etc. to achieve mass production. The government should continue to create a good environment and provide good policies to encourage Chinese enterprises to improve the Beidou industrial chain.

"We will build a more ubiquitous, more integrated and more intelligent national integrated positioning and navigation timing system by 2035, providing core support for future intelligent and unmanned development, continuously promoting system upgrading, integrating new generation communications, low-orbit enhancement and other emerging technologies, and vigorously developing new qualitative capabilities such as quantum navigation and full-source navigation, build a space-time information service infrastructure that covers the sky, ground and sea, unified benchmarks, high precision, high intelligence, high security, and high efficiency." Ran Chengqi said.
