Liu Hongkun: Go through fire and water to write loyalty

In the face of the rapidly spreading fire, Liu Hongkun took the initiative to invite Ying and take the lead, and went deep into the fire scene many times to carry out investigation. However, the raging fire triggered the collapse of some buildings, resulting in Liu Hongkun's heroic sacrifice, his life forever fixed at the age of 35.

Liu Hongkun, born in June 1978, joined the party in June 2002. During his lifetime, he was the chief of staff of the Shijingshan Detachment of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Fire Brigade. At 2 o'clock in the morning on October 11, 2013, a fire broke out in the Xilongduo Shopping Center in Shijingshan District, Beijing. The fire spread rapidly, posing a huge threat to the lives and property safety of the surrounding people. On the night of the fire, Liu Hongkun was not on duty, but after receiving the fire dispatch order, he immediately rushed from home to the scene of the fire to participate in emergency fighting.

In order to effectively carry out the fire fighting and rescue battle in the shortest possible time, Liu Hongkun rushed to the main entrance of the first floor of the building in the first place and conducted a close investigation of the internal fire. It was found that the large billboard on the facade of the shopping mall blocked the water gun attack road, while a large number of flammable clothing inside helped to inflate the fire rapidly, and the west side of the building basically formed a three-dimensional combustion situation. What is even more worrying is that residential buildings are adjacent to the west and north sides of the building, and the east side is next to the equally prosperous Tianyu Market. Once the fire can not be controlled, it is easy to form a more tragic situation in the surrounding.

The situation is critical and there is no time to delay. Liu Hongkun immediately divided the fire fighters on the scene into two assault teams and entered the center of the fire to carry out internal attack and put out the fire. Liu Hongkun carried a respirator on his back and dragged dozens of catties of equipment. He personally led the assault team into the building and braved hundreds of degrees of high temperature to set up water gun positions to stop the fire.

A comrade-in-arms recalled afterwards that the strong heat radiation at the scene made people unable to open their eyes, and the water droplets splashed on the skin like a knife. Everyone was forced to wet their bodies with fire water guns, but within a few minutes they were burned and dried by the fire, so they had to get wet and dried again ...... But even so, Liu Hongkun did not take a step back, always staying at the forefront of the battle, leading the soldiers to quickly control the fire on the first floor.

At 5 o'clock in the morning, the assault team advanced to the third floor. Just as they were preparing to continue the demolition, the air respirators carried by the team members sounded the alarm. In order to avoid accidents, Liu Hongkun immediately arranged for everyone to take turns to withdraw and replace the respirator, but he chose to join Yang Zhanguo, another comrade-in-arms who attacked from the outside hanging stairs, and continued the investigation after changing the respirator in situ. Liu Hongkun braved the scorching heat and forced the demolition. Under extreme conditions, he attacked to the front of the rolling shutter door on the fourth floor. He was not forced to withdraw until the new respirator was exhausted. At this time, the assault team has been fighting in the sea of fire for 3 hours.

At 5: 38, Liu Hongkun received information that there were a large number of gas tanks in the restaurant area on the fourth floor of the shopping mall! There has been an open fire around and spreading trend, once the explosion, the consequences would be unimaginable! Liu Hongkun quickly picked up his respirator and, together with his comrade-in-arms Liu Hongkui, risked the possibility of an explosion at any time. He went upstairs from the evacuation gate on the east side where the environment had not yet been detected to make a surprise investigation and advanced to the inside of the fire scene in the thick smoke with complete blindness.

At 15:21, the bodies of Liu Hongkun and Liu Hongkui were found in the northwest corner of the fourth floor of the collapsed shopping mall. In the broken brick rubble after the huge floor fell, two close comrades who lived and died together still maintained a fighting posture.

During his 16-year career as a police officer, Liu Hongkun used more than 2000 times of fire fighting and rescue experience to fill out a resume of the vanguard blood and fire of a Communist Party member. He once said: "When there is a fire, if I rush in front, my comrades can reduce the danger."

Liu Hongkun's strong will has been honed and his lofty character has been cultivated. He successively rescued more than 20 people in distress, recovered nearly 10 million yuan in economic losses, and left a series of shining footprints on the road of life.
