Our institute undertakes the second part of the project "Research on the Development Strategy of China's Rail Transit", a major consulting and evaluation project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
On October 20, the launching meeting of the first major consultation and evaluation project "Research on China's Rail Transit Development Strategy" of the Department of Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Chengdu. The project was led by Academician Zhai Wanming, director of the Wheel-rail Relationship and Maintenance Research Center of Southwest Jiaotong University and Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute of Tsinghua University (referred to as "High-end Institute"), and was divided into three topics.
The High-end Institute undertakes the second project, "Research on Science and Technology Innovation and Development Strategy of Express/Heavy Haul Freight Railway", which is led by Academician Luo Jianbin, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Honorary Dean of the High-end Institute, and Feng Quanbao, Deputy Director of the Research Center for Wheel-Rail Relations and Maintenance of the High-end Institute.

The project brings together the backbone personnel of more than 40 representative units, including China National Railway Group, China Railway, China Railway, National High-speed Train Innovation Center, Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and High-end Institute. It aims to sort out the important basic research directions and core scientific and technological issues of modern rail transit development, predict the development trend of disciplines, and refine the possible fields and directions in which China's rail transit can catch up with and lead the world rail transit development, put forward corresponding suggestions for the reference of national leaders to promote the healthy, sustainable, stable, intelligent and economic development of China's rail transit industry.

Academician Yang Wei, director of the Department of Technology and Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the Chinese Academy of Sciences attaches great importance to strategic consulting research on rail transit and has decided to set up a major consulting project on "China's Rail Transit Development Strategy Research." this is the first major consulting project set up by the academic department. I have high hopes for this. Academician Yang Wei put forward four requirements for the development of the project on behalf of the academic department: first, the project research should be forward-looking and strategic, according to the principle of "service decision-making and moderate advance", it should reflect the strategic height and consider the problems at the national level; second, the project should be scientific, and policy suggestions and solutions should be put forward based on scientific judgment and scientific basis, Pay attention to analyze the bottleneck problems for some key technologies, pay attention to the integration with national strategies such as the development of the western region; the third is to put forward innovative and unique insights on the basis of systematically combing existing policy recommendations; the fourth is to unite the majority of academicians and experts to give full play to the overall role of the academic department. He hopes that under the careful organization of Academician Zhai Wanming and the joint efforts of academicians and experts, a high-level and valuable consultation report can be formed to contribute to the development of my country's rail transit.

According to the project leader, Academician Zhai Wanming, the three topics of the project are high-speed rail transit technology innovation and leading development strategy research, fast/heavy freight railway technology innovation and development strategy research, and my country's urban rail transit development strategy research. The project has established an advisory expert group composed of 16 academicians in related fields. It is hoped that through the research of the project, it will meet domestic needs and lead international development as the guide, point out the future development direction and path of my country's rail transit, and promote the health and stability of my country's rail transit., Sustainable development; analyze the possible areas and directions in which my country's rail transit can catch up and lead the world's development, and form corresponding consulting suggestions for national leaders.
