Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the State, sent a congratulatory letter, emphasizing that the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" is a document of great significance in the history of the development of human civilization and has had a profound impact on the development of human rights in the world. The Chinese people are willing to work with the people of other countries to uphold the common human values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, safeguard human dignity and rights, promote the formation of a more just, reasonable and inclusive global human rights governance, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a bright future for the world.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter that the people's happy life is the greatest human right. From the day of its birth, the Communist Party of China has taken seeking happiness for the people and development for mankind as its goal. In the nearly 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially in the 40 years since the reform and opening up, the Chinese nation has ushered in a great leap from standing up, getting rich to becoming strong. China's development achievements boil down to one point, that is, the lives of hundreds of millions of Chinese people are improving day by day.

Xi Jinping stressed that the times are developing and human rights are progressing. China adheres to the principle of universality of human rights and contemporary reality, follows the path of human rights development in line with national conditions, pursues the people-centered concept of human rights, regards the right to survival and development as the primary basic human rights, coordinates and promotes the economic, political, social, cultural and environmental rights of all people, strives to safeguard social fairness and justice, and promotes the all-round development of human beings.

Xi Jinping demanded that China's human rights researchers should keep pace with the times, keep upright and innovate, and make greater contributions to enriching the diversity of human civilization and promoting the development of the world's human rights cause.

Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, read out Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and delivered a speech at the forum. He said: General Secretary Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter profoundly expounded the CPC's concept of human rights and pointed out the direction for the development of China's human rights cause in the new era. It is necessary to conscientiously study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions, tell the story of human rights in China, deepen theoretical research on human rights, promote exchanges in the field of human rights, and do a solid job in respecting and protecting human rights.

Xiang Bapingcuo, president of the Chinese Society for Human Rights Studies, and Huang Mengfu, chairman of the China Human Rights Development Foundation, spoke at the forum.

The symposium to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the publication of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was jointly organized by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and the China Human Rights Development Foundation. About 150 people, including relevant responsible persons, human rights experts and scholars from member units of the joint meeting mechanism of the National Human Rights Action Plan, attended the forum.
