Our electron beam metal 3D printing team was invited to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing and delivered a keynote speech

From April 11 to 13, 2018, the 2nd International Conference on Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (2nd International Conference on Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing, EBAM2018) hosted by Erlangen-Nuremberg University in Germany was held in Nuremberg. Lin Feng, professor of Tsinghua University and director of the Institute of Additive Manufacturing Technology and Engineering of Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute, was invited to attend the conference and give a keynote speech.

Keynote Speech by Professor Lin Feng of Tsinghua University

The International Conference on Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) is held every two years and was founded in 2016 by Carolin Körner, chief professor of the Department of Metal Materials Science and Technology of Erlangen-Nuremberg University (Lehrstuhl Werkstoffkunde und Technologie Metalle,WTM). It is currently the only international academic conference dedicated to electron beam additive manufacturing and represents the latest research progress in this field. The conference attracted more than 100 researchers from academia and industry around the world.

On the morning of the 11th, after a brief welcome speech by Professor Körner, President of the General Assembly, Professor Lin Feng made his first keynote report. In his report, he reviewed the achievements of Tsinghua University's independent research and development in electron beam selective melting (EBSM) equipment and technology since 2004, introduced the latest progress of EBSM technology in China's industrialization, and focused on sharing the Tsinghua University team's exploration in technological innovations such as electron beam-laser composite selective melting and electron beam additive manufacturing. Dr. Guo Chao, deputy director of the High-end Institute of Additive Materials, also introduced the research on refractory metal EBSM forming at the meeting. In addition, Dr. Ge Wenjun of Guangzhou University of Technology and Dr. Peng Hui of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics also introduced their respective research work. The content of this conference covers multiple directions such as process, powder, materials, simulation, testing, titanium alloys and high-temperature alloys, and China's research and development in the field of electron beam additive manufacturing, especially the innovative exploration of electron beam composite technology, Has been highly concerned by the participants.

Electron beam additive manufacturing technology has the characteristics of high power density and high forming efficiency due to the use of electron beam as an energy source. It has unique advantages and value in the additive manufacturing of high melting point and high performance metal materials, and has been paid more and more attention in recent years. Tsinghua University is the first team to carry out this technology research in China, and has done a lot of basic and cutting-edge work. At the end of 2017, Tianjin Qingyan Zhibeam Technology Co., Ltd., a high-end hospital incubator, took the lead in launching a commercial electron beam selective melting additive manufacturing equipment QBeamLab in China, and is committed to promoting the industrialization of this technology.
