In November 1950, China and the United States launched a fierce battle in the Changjin Lake area.
Zhu Yanfu's company comrades died or frozen in the battle for the 250 heights. Zhu Yanfu, who was 17 years old that year, was the only survivor among them. When reinforcements found him, his intestines flowed out of the body, his left eyeball was punctured, and his limbs were frozen to ice.
After 47 operations and 93 days in a coma, Zhu Yanfu woke up, but he lost his hands and feet, leaving only his right eye with 0.3 vision.
After the injury stabilized, the stubborn Zhu Yanfu did not want to spend his life lying on the credit book. In order to sacrifice his comrades, he must live strong and be a useful person.

Holding the determination of crippling but not useless, Zhu Yanfu returned to his hometown, Zhangjiaquan Village, Yiyuan County, Shandong. Everything started from scratch. He worked hard on all kinds of life abilities. I don't know how many jobs he smashed and how many times he broke. In the failure, Zhu Yanfu finally stood up.
At that time, in Zhangjiaquan Village, many villagers did not have enough to eat at home, and some people fled the famine all year round. Zhu Yanfu, who was determined to do something, saw that most of the villagers were illiterate. He took out his pension and set up a night school for literacy.
Zhu Yanfu used two broken arms to hold chalk, always writing broken and broken. Later he invented the method of loading chalk in bullet casings.
The village night school has been running for five years, and Zhu Yanfu has not stopped for a day. In 1957, the villagers unanimously elected Zhu Yanfu as the village party branch secretary. Everyone handed over the future of Zhangjiaquan Village to Zhu Yanfu, who had no hands or feet. From then on, he was on crutches, dragging 8.5 kilograms of artificial limbs, climbing the mountain head, to the countryside. Zhu Yanfu has created four ways of walking: standing, kneeling, crawling and rolling. The secretary, who is often black and blue, makes the villagers feel distressed.

Zhu Yanfu's military spirit, not afraid of difficult drive, inspired the villagers. The shed ditches make land and turn barren ravines into fertile soil. In more than ten years, Zhu Yanfu turned a poor mountain village into an advanced village. The villagers not only had enough to eat, but also planted fruit trees in the mountains.
In Zhu Yanfu's heart, he never forgot his comrades-in-arms who fought together and sacrificed for the country. He often remembered that in the battle of Changjin Lake in North Korea, the instructor's dying instructions, if alive, they must write down their stories and their names. Back to the motherland. This entrustment has always been placed in Zhu Yanfu's heart. Nearly 60 years old, Zhu Yanfu decided to start writing.
His writing was carried out by biting the pen with his mouth and holding it with his broken arm. While reading hard, he conceived and created, and often looked up the dictionary when he met words he could not write.
It is by relying on a strong spiritual force, seven degrees of spring and autumn, seven change its draft, a full of blood of life, to the world. On the day the work was published, Zhu Yanfu wrote on the title page the names of the soldiers of the whole company who died in Changjin Lake. He shut himself into the room and lit a book.
