The Winter Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports and the China Cycling Association sent a letter of thanks to the State Key Laboratory of Tribology of Tsinghua University.

The 32nd Summer Olympic Games and the 24th Winter Olympic Games ended perfectly one after another. Chinese athletes fought tenaciously on the field and achieved excellent results. The Winter Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports and the China Cycling Association respectively sent letters of thanks to the State Key Laboratory of Tribology of Tsinghua University. They expressed their gratitude to the laboratories for promoting the development of ice and snow sports and track cycling in China and successfully completing the training and preparation for the Olympic Games in winter and summer. With a high sense of political responsibility and historical mission, they have the courage to take responsibility and fulfill their duties to provide strong scientific and play an important role for the Olympic Games, thank you for your positive contribution.

The Olympic Games is not only a top event in competitive sports, but also a stage for cutting-edge technology to show its skills. Science and technology is an important weapon to achieve "fine" and "precise" training. With the support of scientific and technological innovation, athletes can not only improve the level of preparation and training, but also get twice the result with half the effort on the field. In recent years, Professor Wang Jiadao, the State Key Laboratory of Tribology of Tsinghua University and the Dean of Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute of Tsinghua University, led the team and successively undertook/participated in a number of key special projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology related to winter/summer sports. Professor Wang Jiadao's team gave full play to the laboratory's technical advantages in fluid-solid interface drag reduction, closely combined the theoretical achievements of fluid-solid interface aerodynamic drag reduction, wind tunnel experimental techniques, surface microstructure design and preparation technology, etc., and completed the tasks of athletes' attitude drag reduction optimization, wind tunnel auxiliary training, aerodynamic drag reduction optimization of key competition equipment such as competition clothing/helmets, etc. The relevant research results have helped Chinese athletes win the women's team cycling race in the 32nd Summer Olympic Games (breaking the world record), the competition for gold and silver in the skating event of the 24th Winter Olympic Games, the first medal breakthrough on the steel frame snowmobile, and the first appearance of the Nordic two events, which has become a typical demonstration of the "High-tech Olympics. The Winter Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports and the China Cycling Association fully affirmed and highly appraised the relevant scientific research work of the State Key Laboratory of Tribology. In the future, the State Key Laboratory of Tribology will continue to give full play to its disciplinary advantages and contribute scientific research to the development of competitive sports in China!
