Tianjin High-end equipment Research Institute of Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as "Tsinghua Tianjin High-end Institute") was established in October 2014. Under the background of the national Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy, Tsinghua University aims to connect basic disciplines and applied technologies, promote the deep integration of industry, university and research, and develop China's high-end equipment manufacturing industry, relying on the dispatched research institute established by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University.
Since its establishment, Tsinghua Tianjin High-end Institute has basically formed a "two-way promotion closed loop" of the industry-university-research chain, using universal technology to continuously overcome the important and difficult problems in different industries. Scientific research and industrialization achievements have covered a variety of products and technical services such as industrial spraying robots, metal 3D printers, industrial and civil air purification products, electromagnetic enhanced testing and equipment platforms.
As of February 2021, Tsinghua Tianjin High-end Institute has gathered 39 teams covering four strategic areas: robotics and intelligent manufacturing, micro-nano manufacturing and energy conservation and environmental protection, biomedical machinery and general health, and high-end equipment. 11 research rooms have been established in cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises, signing more than 400 scientific research projects, with a total scientific research contract funding of more than 0.7 billion yuan, applying for 244 patents and 136 authorized patents.
