Xi Jinping wrote back to encourage the vast number of scientific and technological workers across the country.
On the occasion of the fourth "National Science and Technology Workers Day", Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote back to 25 representatives of scientific and technological workers including Yuan Longping, Zhong Nanshan, and Ye Peijian on May 29. And extend sincere greetings to scientific and technological workers across the country.
In his reply, Xi Jinping said that everyone's thinking and practice of innovation and creation reflects the feelings of the vast number of scientific and technological workers in our country in the new era.
Xi Jinping pointed out that innovation is the first driving force to lead development, and science and technology is a powerful weapon to overcome difficulties. In the face of the sudden outbreak of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic, scientific and technological workers across the country have tackled the difficulties and tackled them day and night in clinical treatment, vaccine research and development, material security, big data applications, etc., providing scientific and technological support for the fight against the epidemic.
Xi Jinping emphasized that he hopes that scientific and technological workers across the country will carry forward their fine traditions, strengthen innovation and self-confidence, focus on conquering key core technologies, promote the deep integration of industry, university and research, and have the courage to climb the peak of science and technology, and make new and greater contributions to building my country into a world scientific and technological power.
In order to encourage scientific and technological workers across the country to take on the mission of the times, the State Council approved in November 2016 to designate May 30 each year as the "National Science and Technology Workers Day". Recently, 25 representatives of scientific and technological workers, including Yuan Longping, Zhong Nanshan, and Ye Peijian, wrote to General Secretary Xi Jinping, expressing their determination to make contributions in the vivid practice of innovation, creation and entrepreneurship in the new era.
