Shen Liangliang: Peace-keeping Hero in People's Heart

At the opening ceremony of the "Shen Liangliang Memorial Hall" recently held by an industrial and chemical brigade of the 78th Army, a red "hero list" was presented in front of the martyr's portrait. 365 is a story of elite soldiers on the list to comfort the hero's successor.

Shen Liangliang, male, born in 1987, from Wenxian County, Henan Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China. Before his death, he was a soldier of a former industrial and chemical brigade of the 78th Army, with the rank of staff sergeant.

In July 2010, a flood occurred on the Second Songhua River in Jilin City. He accompanied the company to Kouqian Town, Yongji County to perform rescue and disaster relief missions. After arriving at the designated position, he was the first to sign up for the search and rescue team. In the meantime, although he experienced many dangerous situations, he did not hesitate and did not flinch, and rescued more than 50 trapped people together with his comrades in arms.

In 2013, the battalion appointed him head of the yard. In the three years of working in the yard, Shen Liangliang has been "clear" in the performance, parameters, status of various types of equipment, even the number of kilometers traveled and common fault points, and the yard has been rated as advanced by superiors year after year.

In the 11 years since he joined the army, due to work needs, the organization has arranged him to work in 7 positions, and he resolutely obeyed each time. In particular, in order to participate in the peacekeeping mission in Mali, Shen Liangliang took the initiative to discuss with his girlfriend to postpone the engagement.

Knowing that the troops were about to go to Mali for peacekeeping, Shen Liangliang submitted a war request to the three-level party organizations of the company, battalion, and regiment for two consecutive years. Arriving at the peacekeeping mission area, he wrote on his WeChat signature: brave, brave. Sister repeatedly told him to pay attention to safety, he asked sister "don't let our parents know, don't let them worry".

At about 20:50 on May 31, 2016, local time in Mali, when Shen Liangliang and his comrade-in-arms Si Chongchang were jointly responsible for the security mission at Gate 2 of the peacekeeping camp, an unidentified vehicle rushed to the camp gate at high speed. The main sentry Shen Liangliang immediately reported to the combat duty room, and sounded the alarm to inform the camp to do a good job of protection. At the same time, he decisively commanded Si Chongchang to block the target and pushed Si Chongchang away from the post building at the moment of vehicle explosion.

Shen Liangliang had the time and opportunity to hide, but he put his personal safety out of the way, always stuck to the post to perform his duties, and died heroically to prevent car bombs from rushing into the camp. He was only 29 years old. His heroic feat avoided more casualties among the officers and soldiers of the peacekeeping force and fulfilled the mission responsibility of a soldier with his life.

In order to inherit the legacy of heroes, this brigade commander launched the activity of "learning from the glorious deeds of heroes and taking the path of heroic growth" to create a strong atmosphere of advocating, learning, and defending heroes. At present, more than 90% of the officers and soldiers have participated in urgent, difficult and dangerous tasks such as flood fighting and disaster relief, overseas peacekeeping, and joint performances abroad.
