[Person Interview] Hello, I'm Zhang Lei
We are less than 5 days away from 2020, and the "People Interview" column also ushered in the last issue of 2019. In this issue of "People Interview", the editor invited Mr. Zhang Lei, the executive deputy director of the Institute of Heavy Equipment Technology. Among us, some of our friends have already known Mr. Zhang lei in Tsinghua university, while others have never met before. let's learn about this teacher who has been traveling between the project site and the school all the year round through this issue of "people interview.
good teacher zhang lei! Thank Mr. Zhang Lei for accepting the invitation of "People Interview" in his busy schedule. First of all, let's ask Mr. Zhang lei to introduce himself briefly.
I come from Jimo, Shandong Province. I graduated from Jimo No.2 Middle School, a township middle school. He was admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology in 1995 and obtained a master's degree after 6 years of study. After graduation, he went to Tsinghua Mechanical Department to study for a doctor's degree. After graduation, he continued to be a postdoctoral fellow in the mechanical department. After leaving the station, he stayed in the mechanical department to work until now.
Harbin Institute of technology and Tsinghua University are the first-class universities in China. So according to your own experience in school, how do you feel about the style of these two colleges and universities?
Harbin Institute of Technology and Tsinghua are both good at engineering, and the styles of the two schools are similar. Harbin Institute of Technology's school motto is: strict specifications, kung fu home. Tsinghua school spirit: actions speak louder than words. That is, they all emphasize rigor and truth-seeking, and they all tend to be pragmatic and low-key. Harbin Institute of Technology belongs to the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and has been undertaking more military projects. Compared with Tsinghua, it pays more attention to projects. Tsinghua is more innovative and has more leading things. The styles of the two schools have left a deep imprint on me. I am proud of the two alma maters and hope that the future will live up to the cultivation of the two schools.
I'm sure you'll live up to your hopes. Mr. Zhang lei, you have been working in the mechanical department. when did you know about the high-end hospital and why did you decide to come to the high-end hospital?
During the establishment of the high-end institute, great attention has been paid to it. The high-end institute is more suitable for engineering projects and research and development based on engineering projects. However, I am engaged in more projects with clear engineering background. Therefore, after the establishment of the high-end institute, Professor Lin Feng and I applied for the establishment of the Heavy Equipment Research Institute and the Additive Manufacturing Research Institute in the high-end institute as soon as possible. Practice has proved that our decision to choose the high-end hospital platform is correct, and the high-end hospital also helps us go further and more successfully in these directions.
As far as I know, Mr. Zhang lei not only needs to be responsible for part of the work of the heavy equipment institute, but also has teaching and research and development work on the school side, and also has to travel frequently to run projects. In terms of the current situation or this year, how is the proportion of these parts of work distributed?
This year, the research and development of engineering projects accounted for most of my energy, especially the 300MN isothermal die forging hydraulic press project is the top priority. The 300MN project is guided by product requirements to equipment requirements, from concept proposal to project initiation, to the decision to take the high-end institute as the main body of the contract to make the project general contractor, which is also a lot of twists and turns. This is inseparable from the strong support of the high-end hospital, which gave me confidence to do a good job in the project. In addition, this year there is also a 04 special project on multi-directional die forging project. Two national key research and development projects are in progress, and the latter pays more attention to basic research.
Expect more and better projects to be born. For you, what is the most impressive thing, can you share it with us?
The most impressive thing is the moment when the 400MN die forging hydraulic press was successfully put into production. It was March 31, 2012, and the 400MN die forging hydraulic press was officially put into trial production. The first product produced was XX landing gear forgings made of A100 ultra-high strength steel. This product was also the first time that China produced refined A100 products.
A really meaningful thing.
There is an important project here in the high-end institute this year, that is, the 300MN isothermal forging hydraulic press project you just mentioned. everyone also knows something about it through relevant reports. can teacher Zhang lei tell you about this project in detail here?
The 300MN isothermal die forging project is invested and constructed by Xi'an Triangle Defense Co., Ltd. The maximum forging force of the equipment is 300MN, and it will become the world's largest isothermal forging hydraulic press after completion. The equipment mainly adopts equal forging die forging process, precision die forging process and common die forging process. The target products are precision die forgings such as aircraft structural parts and jet engine turbine discs. The typical materials of the formed products are difficult-to-deform metals such as titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy and powder alloy, and the weight of the typical parts is about hundreds of KG to 1T.
300MN isothermal forging die forging hydraulic press is characterized by advanced isothermal forging capacity, small table and high precision. The equipment has a high-precision low-speed mode: the minimum forging speed of the equipment is 0.002 mm/s, and it can continuously change the speed to 20 mm/s, and the speed control accuracy can reach 0.001~0.002 mm/s. The equipment has perfect thermal protection ability, high temperature alloy, titanium alloy isothermal forging die preheating temperature can reach about 1000 ℃, and the continuous forging time can be as long as several hours or even days. Therefore, the equipment needs special design and protection for extreme thermal conditions.
It is believed that the completion of the equipment will well promote the development of China's aviation industry. Behind this project is actually the hard work and dedication of many people, so in the next year, the focus of the institute's work will be on this project, or are there other plans?
In the coming year, we will first ensure that the project can be put into production smoothly in accordance with the requirements of the node, and at the same time, we will refine and precipitate relevant basic research contents in the design and development process, and carry out research on common technology of heavy equipment and isothermal precision die forging technology. In addition, further developments continue to be expected in the heavy equipment direction as well as in the additive manufacturing direction.
I feel that the time for the next year has been arranged to be "perfect". I can't help but ask if Zhang Lei still has enough time to take care of his family?
It is true that I have sacrificed a lot of time to take care of my family. I would like to thank my wife for her understanding and strong support. Without the silent dedication and support behind my wife, I could not undertake the current task.
It seems you have a very solid rear.
Teacher Zhang lei is also engaged in education. do you have your own methods or opinions on the education of your baby?
I am ashamed that my care and investment in my children are obviously insufficient. My wife is mainly responsible for the education of our children. I am the assistant. For children, I hope to cultivate a good study habit for him and set aside enough time for free development.
"No sports, no Tsinghua", does Mr. Zhang lei have any sports that he likes very much, or is he still sticking to them?
At present, we are still trying to adhere to physical exercise. As long as time permits, we can basically keep exercising about 2 times a week. However, I am often interrupted by various business trips, hoping to return to the rhythm of regular exercise in the past as soon as possible.
