[Person Interview] Hello, I'm Li Xiaolei

In this column, we invited Li Xiaolei from the Institute of Lubrication Technology of our institute, a new member who joined the high-end institute in 2019. Let's get to know each other through interviews.
Hello, Xiao lei. thank you very much for being our first guest. can you introduce yourself briefly?
I am Li Xiaolei, from Jiangsu, now settled in Tianjin Jinnan District. I graduated from Dalian Maritime University at the end of 2016 and then went to Tsinghua University for two years of postdoctoral study.
In Tsinghua University, my co-instructors are Mr. Luo Jianbin and Mr. Zhang Chenhui, which is also an important opportunity for me to come to the lubrication office of the high-end hospital. On January 10, 2019, he officially joined the lubrication institute and carried out corresponding work under the leadership of teacher Zhang.
After coming to the high-end hospital and joining the lubrication institute, what kind of work did you first take charge?
Or a continuation of my post-doctoral period to do scientific research work, mainly self-lubricating composite materials preparation and tribological properties of the work. The self-lubricating composite materials we make are mainly resin-based, which is to compound some solid or liquid lubricating particles in the resin, thereby giving the material itself a certain degree of lubricity.
It is equivalent to the lubrication of the material.
Yes, so it's called self-lubricating. We generally refer to lubrication, which may be to add lubricating media such as lubricating oil and grease from the outside, but if we compound this lubricating medium into the material in advance, we will no longer need to provide additional lubrication from the outside.
At present, is it only their own research and development in this area, or with other partners?
I am doing it with two other colleagues. The three of us are engaged in research work in this field together.
How is it going?
Our project should be regarded as a steady and continuous in-depth study. At present, some progress has indeed been made. For example, some of the key technologies we have developed have been applied in some self-lubricating bearings in aviation. Of course, this application is currently limited to our laboratory. In addition, we have established preliminary contacts and exchanges with the National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory of Yanshan University and Longxi Bearing, and there may be in-depth cooperation in the later period.
How did you think of making self-lubricating composite materials at the beginning?
We are actually doing this to serve a relatively large national project. My main job here is to make some self-lubricating materials and then apply them to this project. Our project revolves around self-lubricating joint bearings, and we also want to make this technology mature in the laboratory before realizing real application. In the process of research and development, we found that the application range of self-lubricating composite materials is very wide, and it is not limited to this project.
From postdoctoral station to work here, has there been any change in the overall state or mentality?
It's really different. This is really a real feeling. During the postdoctoral period, more focus on research and development, basically most of the time and energy are put on this. Now in addition to research and development work, there will be some other work involved, and as far as research and development is concerned, the perspective of thinking has also changed. Before, I was more concerned about this technology and technology research and development. What I saw was the technical barriers placed there one by one. Now, in addition to trying to overcome the technical barriers, we will think about the actual application of the technology, the market prospect of the technology, and so on, and will carry out the next research and development work in combination with the practical application problems.
Do you still need to go to Beijing often now?
Now the number of trips to Beijing is relatively small. On average, I will go to school once a month or so, mainly to go back to do some experiments or participate in exchange meetings. The experimental conditions here in our high-end hospital are still relatively good. There is no problem in carrying out regular tribology experiments. In addition, we also have characterization equipment such as scanning electron microscope and laser three-dimensional confocal microscope. Moreover, the leader has just equipped us with mechanical testing machines, so basically we can do some regular experiments here. Unless some experiments with special instruments are needed, they will come to the school.
Then we also saw your good performance in the recent "feather" competition-the second badminton match of the high-end courtyard. Do you usually like sports more?
I prefer sports, and I basically insist on swimming every day when I was in school. Now the swimming conditions may not be very good. Basically, I go to the gym once a week to exercise. I usually play table tennis and badminton.

1. What kind of talent do you most want to have?
I hope that my thinking is more agile, my language expression ability is stronger, and some knowledge is known in my mind, but it is difficult to react quickly. I need a reaction time. This is also an aspect that I need to improve slowly in my work.
2 How is your current state of mind?
At present, I am more satisfied with the current situation of family and work, and I have a more positive attitude. I want to study more while I am young, continue to maintain my enthusiasm for research and development when I was studying in Tsinghua, and study hard.
3. Who do you admire most?
There are several people I admire more, including several teachers I met in my academic career. They are my doctoral supervisor, Mr. Zhang Huichen, postdoctoral supervisor, academician Luo Jianbin and Mr. Zhang Chenhui. First of all, their knowledge is very profound, and they are always very rigorous in scientific research. This is what I admire very much, and it is also what I need to learn.
4. What was your favorite trip?
In a small town in Italy, some tourist attractions in China are more inclined to the artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting, while the small town in Italy feels like a fairy tale when I was a child, very quiet, like an illustration.
5. What is your most treasured possession?
What I cherish most is my family. There is a person I love and love my lover very much, and there are two pairs of elderly people who are very healthy.
During this period of work, how do you feel about the atmosphere of the high-end hospital?
I feel that the big family of high-end hospitals is very positive and energetic. On the one hand, it may be that we have more young colleagues; on the other hand, because we are all teachers from Tsinghua University and other universities, their own state and leadership style are very positive.
The last question is, do you have a goal or wish in the near future, both at work and in life.
In terms of work, I hope I can continue to work hard and continuously improve myself. In terms of life, I hope I can welcome my baby, which is perfect.
