On November 11, 2017, Zhai Wanming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Wheel/Rail Relations and Maintenance Research Center of Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute of Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as the "Wheel/Rail Center"), Feng Quanbao, deputy director of the Wheel/Rail Center, Lu Yajin, project director, and technical director Guan Mingfei and his entourage went to Tianjin Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. Academician Zhai Wanming first introduced the basic situation of the wheel-rail center. One of the key research and development projects of the wheel-rail center is preventive maintenance technology. Based on the theory of vehicle-rail coupling dynamics, the international leading wheel online detection technology is adopted to monitor the whole process of wheel defect development in real time. It is applicable to the operating environment of urban rail transit and solves the common problems of wheel scratches, polygonization and other defects of rail vehicles. Zhai Wanming also introduced the R & D and application of new energy air-rail technology and the development of Tianjin Rail Transit Industry Technology Innovation Alliance to the Rail Transit Group.

In the subsequent exchange, Miao Yugang first welcomed academician Zhai Wanming's visit. At present, Tianjin has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission for 513 kilometers of rail transit construction, urban rail transit construction has entered a period of comprehensive and rapid development. Miao Yugang hopes to cooperate with the wheel and rail center to carry out preventive maintenance technology projects, through the combination of production, education, research and application, to ensure the operational safety of subway vehicles, solve vibration, noise and other problems, improve the comfort of passengers on the subway, and solve the practical problems of urban rail transit operation.
