The Marine Equipment Institute of our hospital and the 719 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation discuss cooperation matters.
On August 18, 2018, Liu Qian, deputy director of the 719 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (referred to as "719 Institute"), and Chen Hong, chief engineer, led technicians from the Frontier Technology Development Department to visit the Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute of Tsinghua University (referred to as "High-end Institute") Marine Information and Intelligent Equipment Research Institute (referred to as "Marine Equipment Research Institute") to conduct research. The two sides exchanged views on the technical points, application prospects and expected effects of future naval warfare of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), and jointly discussed the technical strengths and demand directions of both sides.
The bionic AUV independently developed by the Marine Equipment Institute imitates bluefin tuna and has the ability to operate 400 meters underwater. At present, it has entered the stage of assembly and debugging, and underwater experiments can be carried out after debugging. After listening to the report of the Institute of Marine Equipment on the research and development of bionic AUV, the relevant person in charge of the 719 Institute put forward some reasonable opinions and suggestions, and expressed the intention of cooperation in the research and development of new AUV for submarine cruise, monitoring, combat and so on.
In the later period, the Marine Equipment Institute will continue to increase research and development efforts in terms of bionic AUV speed and cruise time, focusing on the research and development of AUV control systems to ensure that AUV can operate autonomously on demand. The next step will be the first generation of bionic AUV under the lake experiment, to adjust the parameters, optimize the overall structure.
