The Research Center for Electromagnetic Strengthening Technology for Tools and Bearings is one of the scientific research institutions affiliating Tianjin Research Institute for Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University. This research institute has the completely autonomous intellectual property rights of technology and equipment of tools and bearing “Electromagnetic Strengthening”. The Electromagnetic Strengthening technology which can improve the wear resistance of alloy and ceramic remarkably was first proposed by Tsinghua University, and the technology has lots of advantages such as no shape or size change of the workpiece, no pollution, high efficiency and so on compared with other conventional treatment technology. The technology went through multi batch practical tests and was put into practical use in several industries. Similar technology has not yet been reported abroad.
Three aspects of work are carrying out focusing on improving the properties of tools & bearing in China, including:
▶ providing technical service for key industrial areas (such as aircraft bearing and navigation bearing) in China;
▶ providing electromagnetic strengthening equipment for industries (such as aluminum profile extrusion die and automobile bearing) with huge demand for the technology;
▶ providing advanced tools and bearing products (such as spherical cutter for blade machining and machine tool spindle bearing) integrated with other technologies in Tianjin Institute for Advanced Equipment.
The Research Center for Electromagnetic Strengthening Technology for Tools and Bearings is one of the scientific research institutions affiliating Tianjin Research Institute for Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University. This research institute has the completely autonomous intellectual property rights of technology and equipment of tools and bearing “Electromagnetic Strengthening”. The core members of our team are faculties and students from Tsinghua University, also including equipment manufacturers and tools & bearing customers. Our team is one of the few teams with a combination of research and industrialization in this field in China. Our team includes fundamental research group (PhD students and post-doctor in Tsinghua University), equipment group (providing specialized design and manufacturing of electromechanical equipment), marketing group (tools customers and bearing manufacturers) and some outsourced firms of tools materials and tools manufacturing.
The research and industrialization work of our team plays a significant role in improving the advanced tools & bearings manufacturing technology in China, of great social and economic significance, with a good prospect of being popularized and used in modern industry.
