Introduction of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone
Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone is an important economic functional zone of Tianjin Binhai New Area. On May 12, 1991, with the approval from the state council, the Zone was established on the desolate saline-alkali land in the seaport area of Tianjin Port. After the development in these years, the planned area of the Zone has reached 287.4 square kilometers, and a spatial layout of “three areas and two ports” has formed, in which the “three areas” refers to the airport area, the Lingang area and the seaport area, and the “two ports” refers to Tianjin Port and Tianjin Binhai International Airport. With four special customs regulation areas in three classes, the Zone enjoys the favorable policies of both Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone and Tianjin Binhai New Area.
Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone takes “free trade zone” as its characteristics and “port” as its support. Driven by some leading projects such as Airbus, Caterpillar and CSIC, many industries quickly gather here, including civil aviation, high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing, marine economy, biomedicine and health, artificial intelligence and information technology, fast moving consumer goods, modern services, and so on. There have been more than 30,000 market participants here, and 225 world Top 500 investment projects are developing rapidly in the Zone. It has become an important window of opening-up and point of economic support for Tianjin, and is playing a significant role of server, radiator and driver in the economic development of the Bohai Rim area and even North China.
In this new era with new atmosphere and new missions, how to plan and promote high-quality development with broader view, greater layout and higher standard? Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone is answering this question step by step.
