THTI

 Against the background of national strategy concerning the integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, Tianjin Research Institute for Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as “THTI”) is jointly established by Tsinghua University and Dongli District Government of Tianjin City on July 16th, 2014. Being as the dispatched research institute from Tsinghua University, THTI, anchored by Mechanical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University, combines the advantages of science, technology, human resources from Tsinghua University and the industrial and regional strength of Tianjin, serving as the comprehensive platform for technology transformation and industrial incubation with the connection of coordinated innovation, industrial incubation and investment & financing service.
 
Starting from the design, manufacturing and technical support of advanced equipment, THTI is committed to exploring the coordinated innovation among the industry, university, research, fund and government, as well as the innovation modes related to the high-tech industrial cluster and the transformation of technical achievements. Driven by the innovation, THTI is aiming at building a platform for R&D and transformation, industry incubation, talents cultivation and accumulation; a world-leading center for advanced equipment technology and product innovation, for testing and certification of equipment and its corresponding spare parts; an international base for advanced design and business incubation, for cultivation and accumulation of top-level talents within the industry by virtue of integration of the high-quality resources domestically and internationally and technological and institutional innovation.
 
To concatenate the science & technology innovation and transformation, industry incubation based on industry-university-research cooperation, the 35000 square meters of scientific research and science education base and the 16000 square meters of pilot scale experiment and industrialization bases of THTI on the first phase of the development program have been put into service.
 
Since its founding in October 28th, 2014, THTI has established a comparatively perfect management and operation system with R&D Division, Industry Division, Investment & Financing Division and Administration Division. In addition, 33 Research Centers (R&D), 7 Research Centers (Industry), 6 Joint Centers with the enterprises have embraced the high-end equipment and manufacturing etc. And 17 technical transformation companies have successfully been incubated. A number of high-level talent base have successively been established including the academician and expert workstations. In terms of cooperation, THTI has built the strategic partnership with several corporate champions domestically and internationally such as Haier Group, Lanzhou Lanshi Group Co., Ltd., China General Nuclear Power Corporation, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp, Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Wanfeng Auto Holding Group and German DB technology Co., Ltd. It also extends the technical cooperation and communication with AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., AVIC Guizhou Aircraft Co., Ltd., Hongdu Aircraft Industrial Group, Tianjin North Vehicle Track Equipment Co., Ltd., CRRC Beijing Locomotive Co., Ltd. In addition, XCMG and BENEFO have started a communication with THTI, which has laid the foundation for future cooperation.
 
Thanks to the support of Tianjin Government and Tsinghua University, THTI will avail itself of the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Area in Tianjin and give full play to the assembly effect of R&D resources and build a strategic advanced equipment industrial cluster. It is striving to build a nationally competitive industrial research institute on the 13th Five-Year-Plan Period through aggression and solidarity and to become a world-class manufacturing innovation center through 10-years’ efforts.
